Whether a portrait painted on the side of poppy seed or a caravan of camels marching through the eye of a needle, micro-miniature art grants us access to a tiny world full of massive possibilities. With roots dating back to the medieval times, collectors of these delicate works of art seek out the most skilled masters, who endeavor to create ever-smaller, evermore-detailed paintings, etchings and sculptures. In recent years, there has been a revival of both the craft of making the Micro Masterpieces and the audiences seeking out their work.

Enjoy viewing some of the tiniest, most intricate art ever created, as you walk through our gallery, containing 30 microscopes and exhibits.  you will see everything from paintings to a tiny creature that hides a special secret. You will be amazed and astounded at the attention to detail, asking yourself ' how does someone do that" ? Few artists are capable of such beautiful creations. Works of art vary as much as the art itself. When painting a portrait, some artists will use a single hair from a paint brush to apply a stroke of paint so small it would not fill even one groove on your fingerprint. Often using microscopes to properly see their creations as they work, micro-miniature sculptors will mount the finished piece on the blunt end of a severed human hair ,   as you will see for yourself as you view these magnificent works of art. This is a self guided tour and requires no reservation.  Open daily from 10 am- 10 pm

Discover America's first wax museum located in the heart of historic St. Augustine, Florida. Potter's Wax Museum offers guests the ability to interact with over 160 wax figures, ranging from Hollywood A-listers to individuals who have shaped national history.

The inspiration behind Potter's Wax Museum came from a childhood trip to London taken by founder, George L. Potter. As a child, he was mesmerized by the life like figures and wanted to share his enjoyment with the American public.

In 1947, Potter began contracting with GEMS of London, a noted wax studio, to create one of a kind figures for his museum. Potter employed artists from all over Europe to aide in this project with the wax imported from France, hair from Italy, and the sculpting taking place in Belgium. Opening it's doors in 1949, Potter's Wax Museum has served as an interactive, educational and fun attraction for visitors to the ancient city.

At Potter's, you can interact with historic figures such as, Ponce de Leon, Albert Einstein, and Princess Diana, take a picture with Michael Jordon or Angelina Jolie; or imagine you are on set with Harry Potter and "He Who Must Not Be Named."

Enjoy this unique St Augustine attraction.

Located on San Marco Avenue in St. Augustine’s Uptown District, the Old Jail Museum offers an educational and intriguing look into what it would have been like to be a prisoner in the Nation’s Oldest City. Take a guided tour led by the “jailers” for a compelling look at the cells where imprisoned men and women once lived, the maximum security area reserved for the most nefarious criminals and a collection of weapons.

For nearly 60 years – until 1953 – the Old Jail served as the St. Johns County facility for petty thieves and hardened criminals. There were even eight recorded executions, two of which were accused murderers. Sim Jackson, who was hanged in 1908 after murdering his wife with a straight razor, is among the group.

Today, visitors learn about the infamous Sheriff Perry, who served from 1889 until 1897 and again from 1901 until 1919. His stature as a “big, bold man” at 6’6” and weighing 300 pounds was intimidating even for the most hardcore of inmates. Though popular in the community, Perry was feared amongst cell inhabitants – both male and female – for his reputation of renting out prisoners to local farmers through a leasing system.

Visitors can also take a look at the cell blocks, gallows and sheriff’s quarters. See where the sheriff, his wife and children lived, right upstairs from the prisoners, and how they used their own kitchen to prepare meals for the inmates. A tour through this attraction will show visitors what life was like as an inmate and how the Old Jail helped shape St. Augustine’s history.
